Call to Artists Across New England!
The beautiful village of Franconia NH successfully completed its second year of the “ArtWalk”. We received many compliments from local citizens and visitors. New Hampshire Magazine featured our ArtWalk in their November 2020 issue. Over 2,000 copies of our map/brochures were distributed. You can check out the map/brochure.
The Franconia ArtWalk is a long-term outdoor display of artwork officially opening in early July and closing Columbus Day weekend. Jury selection is done in March and artist notification goes out the week ending March 13th. Art installation begins the week of April 18th and needs to be removed by the end of October 2021. Our association will provide a mounting base(s), help with installation and removal, provide appropriate landscaping and a plaque identifying the artist, the art work’s title and, if desired, the artist’s website. Our website will include an interactive map that will direct the viewer to detailed information about the artist and their artwork. This year we will add a QR code plaque at each location which when scanned will take the viewer to the same detailed information on our website. We will also provide a stipend based on the distance traveled (see Stipend Table) to help artists with their travel related expenses.
One portion of our “Art Walk” stretches almost a mile along Main street paralleling the scenic Gale River using our historic buildings and scenery will provide as an interesting backdrop for your artwork. Another portion of the ArtWalk meanders along the Gale River on the River Walk and provides a beautiful, peaceful setting for visitors to enjoy the artwork. Artwork will be added along Academy Street on the Scenic Neighborhood Loop in 2021.
The Franconia ArtWalk Association is regional organization focused on developing art related attractions for people of all ages and abilities. Inspired by nature and the arts, the Association promotes tourism and enhances the artistic aspects of our local communities.
Our walk will give you exposure to a wide variety of people because our walk is accessible to people of all physical abilities. Additionally, we encourage artists of varied mediums and hope to include works of granite, bronze, ceramic, tile, paint, mosaic, stained glass, etc. with the only real limitation being that they must be able to withstand outdoor exposure for at least one year. Tens of thousands of tourists and outdoor enthusiasts visit the Franconia Notch area in the White Mountains every year where the Village of Franconia is located. Within reasonable traveling distance of Franconia Village there are major hotels such as the Omni Mt. Washington and the Mountain View Grand, many inns, B and B’s, and many types of lodging in Lincoln. Also, the nearby town of Littleton attracts a large number of tourists.
Many of these visitors who will be interested in less strenuous, outdoor cultural activities in the beautiful White Mountains. These individuals are our target. This is what we have to offer artists who display their art work on the Franconia ArtWalk.
Our non-profit organization is registered with the State of NH and the IRS and we carry general liability insurance.
