Balance as the concept of harmony, human and natureValery Mahuchy
Fusion of man and nature creates harmony between the inner and the outer. All this as the example of human-feminine and animal-cat. Through shape lines, convex and concave volumes. Through the border line, between realistic and abstract, decorative form. In the contact of human with the animal world, inner harmony and balance is born.
Valery Mahuchy was born in Belarus in 1959 and graduated from the Sculpture Department of the Academy of the Arts in Minsk in 1988. He has been a member of the Belarusian Artists’ Union since 1995. Valery has participated in solo and group exhibits in Vitebsk, Minsk, Moscow, St. Petersburg and Germany. His work is displayed in museums and private collections in Belarus, America, Israel, Germany, France, Russia and the Ukraine.
Abbie Greenleaf Library
Charles Greenleaf chose the architect W.H. McLean to design the Abbie Greenleaf Library. At its completion in 1912, the library consisted of three rooms: a reading room, a stack room, and the central vestibule with circulation desk. Colonel Greenleaf was particular about all the details of the building, including the curious stained glass windows which represent a wide array of flags of nations, many of which no longer exist and exquisite hand-hewn mahogany woodwork. The Arts and Crafts front door is a quintessential example of that style. Don’t forget to seek out the Commedia dell’arte end irons in each fireplace. The centerpiece of this structure is the handcrafted mosaic floor which was copied after the much admired Marble Room of the Massachusetts State House in Boston. Abbie Greenleaf Library is listed on the National Register of Historic Places .
