Slag is a welded, fabricated steel sculpture that contrasts the black painted textured surface against the smooth brown patina surface. For this piece, I am interested in examining how the stacked forms create an illusion of heavy-weighted objects precariously balancing on one another. The title is derived from the stacked forms resembling cast-off industrial objects like the waste matter separated from metals during the smelting or refining of ore.
