My work brings together 3D modeling with traditional sculpture techniques in casting and carving. It begins as a hand-sketch, that is translated into a 3D model. Surfaces, details, form and balance are developed through multiple iterations.
I graduated from Syracuse University in 1989 with a Bachelor’s in Industrial Design. By graduation, I had exhibited works at the National Sculpture Center in Washington D.C. and held a senior sculpture exhibition beside an industrial design portfolio.
I began designing products at Bernal Isern Design in Barcelona. Products varied from furniture to lighting and glassware. I also painted murals in Barcelona from 1989 to 1996 and exhibited sculpture around Europe and in Moscow.
I returned to the U.S. in ’94 to complete an MFA in sculpture, and then taught at various colleges around the country.
I reconnected with Gemma Bernal in Barcelona to do furniture design. Some of these designs are produced by Source International in Massachusetts.
